This is a piece of Canadian modern furniture from Walter Nugent Design Ltd.. Walter Nugent was from Oakville Ontario and he created these sprung steel upholstered chairs that could be mounted to a number of different chair bases. The design was officially patented in 1960 but I believe some of them are older than that. We found four of these orange vinyl chairs a few years ago. We especially like to show pieces by Walter Nugent because it seems like it's hard to find examples of his work. I don't know if he's neglected or there aren't many of his chairs around but they're great pieces of Canadian Modern furniture.
